Neurodiversity-affirming coaching focuses on identifying and leveraging an individual’s unique strengths and neurodivergent traits. This aligns with the core principle of neuroinclusion, which emphasises valuing and utilising the diverse perspectives and talents of neurodivergent individuals.
Individual Coaching
Being Neurodivergent does not always mean battling with co-occurring psychological difficulties requiring therapeutic intervention. When clients are well positioned psychologically and are not actively having to deal with anxiety and mood disorders but rather wanting to find ways to function optimally in their environments and relationships in ways that suit their neurotype – then Neuro-informed and affirming Coaching is a good option. My approach emphasises individual needs and strengths, empowering clients to build a fulfilling life on their own terms.

Neurodiversity-Affirming Relationship Coaching
Neurodiversity-affirming relationship Coaching can assist you in developing and implementing strategies for managing some of the specific practical, personal, and relational challenges that come with one (or more) partner and/or family member being Neurodivergent in a Neurotypical world.
Some of these challenges can involve:
- Sensory sensitivities: One (or both) partners may be overwhelmed by sounds, lights, or touch, while the other may not understand or appreciate these specific sensitivities.
- Different communication styles: Neurodivergent individuals may struggle with social cues, literal interpretation, or expressing emotions verbally. This can lead to misunderstandings and frustration.
- Executive function challenges: Difficulties with planning, organisation, and time management can impact shared responsibilities and potentially create friction.
- Sensory overload: Living together can create constant sensory overload for one or both partners.
- Creating a sensory-friendly environment: Finding a balance between the needs of all partners can be challenging.
- Emotional Regulation: Meltdowns and shutdowns: Navigating meltdowns or shutdowns in a relationship can be stressful for all partners.
- Sensory sensitivities: Physical touch can be complicated and/or overwhelming for some neurodivergent individuals.
- Communication about intimacy: Open and honest communication about sexual needs and preferences can be challenging.
- Social gatherings and outings: Navigating social situations together can be overwhelming for neurodivergent individuals and may require careful planning and accommodations.
- Different social interests: Finding common ground and shared social activities can be a challenge.
- Internalised stigma: Partners may experience internalised stigma related to neurodiversity, which can impact self-esteem and relationship dynamics.
- External stigma: Navigating societal stigma and discrimination related to neurodiversity can create additional stress and challenges.
- Communication styles and power dynamics: Differences in communication styles can create power imbalances within the relationship.
We will work with these challenges throughout the Coaching engagement, looking to:
